Assistant District Attorney for the City and County of San Francisco, Juvenile Unit
Kasie Lee is an Assistant District Attorney for the City and County of San Francisco. She is a Certified Criminal Law Specialist. She is a former Deputy Public Defender of the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office. There, she handled complex criminal cases involving serious and violent felonies, life cases, and homicides, and completed dozens of jury trials to verdict and thousands of evidentiary hearings.
Prior to becoming a prosecutor, she managed a law practice in San Francisco focusing on criminal defense and juvenile delinquency. She also served as the Attorney Administrator of the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Juvenile Delinquency Panel, overseeing a panel of attorneys representing youth in delinquency cases. She has been appointed by Mayor London Breed to serve on the San Francisco Juvenile Justice Blue Ribbon Panel.
She sits on the board of the New Breath Foundation. She is a former board member and Chief Financial Officer of the Pacific Juvenile Defender Center. She is also a past President of the Asian American Criminal Trial Lawyers Association of the Greater Bay Area (AACTLA) and past President of the Asian Pacific Public Defenders Association of the Greater Los Angeles (APPDA).
She has trained other attorneys and investigators in California and at the national level on topics such as the use of social media in criminal cases, competency, and how to raise the issue of race in the courtroom. She also served as a criminal law expert on AM 1400, Sing Tao Chinese Radio, the largest Chinese radio broadcasting agency in the Bay Area.
